UNIREX N greases are premium-quality, lithium-complex products suitable for high-temperature service in rolling-element bearings. These versatile greases can be used in a wide range of industrial applications and are particularly recommended for electric-motor lubrication.

Unirex N 2 in an NLGI No. 2 grade and is preferred in most cases for application by hand packing or by grease gun. UNIREX N 3 is an NLGI No. 3 grade often used for special applications such as sealed-for-life electric motor bearings, vertically mounted bearings, and higher-speed applications. UNIREX N greases are not intended to be used under extreme pressure conditions where extra anti-welding properties are required.

UNIREX N 2 meets the requirements of Lubricating Grease DIN 51825 - K2N - 20L and ISO L-XBDHA 2.

UNIREX N 3 meets the requirements of Lubricating Grease DIN 51825 - K3N - 20L and ISO L-XBDHA 3.

Unirex N greases exhibit excellent high and low temperature performance, resistance to water and corrosion, and long service life in a range of bearing applications.
Applications:
Because of their outstanding oxidation stability and resistance to softening at high temperatures, UNIREX N greases may be used in many applications such as oven-conveyor bearings, dryer-roller bearings, rotary steam joints, kiln-car bearings, induced-draft fan bearings, and equipment adjacent to high radiant heat such as ovens, soaking pits, etc.

UNIREX N 2 is an NLGI No. 2 grade and is preferred in most cases for application by hand-packing or by grease gun. UNIREX N 2 is recommended for the lubrication of electric motors. It is suitable for NEMA (National Electric Manufacturer's Association) Insulation Class A, B, and F motors.

UNIREX N 3 is an NLGI No. 3 grade and is used for special applications such as sealed-for-life bearings, vertically-mounted bearings, and higher-speed bearings.

Most of the uses for UNIREX N involve manual methods of application. Although UNIREX N 2 is suitable for use in automatic centralized systems, equipment served by these systems would normally not require the long-life properties of UNIREX N, since one of the functions of automatic systems is to replenish the lubricant at relatively short time intervals. UNIREX N 3 should not be used in such systems.

Regardless of the level of oxidation stability of a grease, an increase in temperature will affect the rate of oxidation and thermal deterioration. Consequently, more frequent relubrication is required at higher temperatures. For UNIREX N greases, it is recommended that relubrication intervals not exceed one week of continuous service at 175°C. As temperatures approach 190°C, relubrication intervals should be daily or every shift. Relubrication intervals will, of course, vary widely with the type of service and should be based primarily on the recommendations of the motor manufacturer.

Mobilith SHC Series greases are supreme performance products designed for a wide variety of applications at extremes of temperature. They combine the unique features of synthetic base fluids with those of a high quality lithium complex thickener. The wax-free nature of synthetic fluids and the low coefficient of traction (compared with mineral oils), provide excellent low temperature pumpability and very low starting and running torque. These products offer the potential for energy savings and can reduce operating temperatures in the load zone of spherical roller and ball bearings. The lithium complex thickener contributes excellent adhesion, structural stability and resistance to water. The greases have a high level of chemical stability and are formulated with special additive combinations to provide excellent protection against wear, rust and corrosion at high and low temperatures. Mobilith SHC Series greases are available in seven grades, varying in base oil viscosity from ISO VG 100 to 1500 and in NLGI grade from 2 to 00.

Mobilith SHC Series greases have become the products of choice for many users, in many industries worldwide. Their reputation is based on their exceptional quality, reliability, versatility and the performance benefits they deliver.

The Mobil SHC brand of oils and greases are recognized and appreciated around the world for their innovation and outstanding performance. The Mobilith SHC series symbolizes ExxonMobil's continued commitment to using advanced technology to provide outstanding products. A key factor in the development of the Mobilith SHC Series were the close contacts between our scientists and application specialists with key Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure that our product offerings would provide exceptional performance in the continually evolving industrial equipment designs.

Our work with equipment builders has helped confirm the results from our own laboratory tests showing the exceptional performance of the Mobilith SHC Series lubricants. These benefits include longer grease life, enhanced bearing protection and bearing life, wide temperature range of application, and the potential for improved mechanical efficiency and energy savings.

To combat high thermal exposure of the oil our product formulation scientists chose proprietary synthetic base oils for Mobilith SHC Series oils because of their exceptional thermal/oxidative resistance potential. Our scientists developed a state-of-the-art lithium complex thickener technology and used specific additives to enhance the performance of each grade of the Mobilith SHC Series product family.
Applications:
While Mobilith SHC Series greases are compatible with most mineral oil based products, admixture may detract from their performance. Consequently it is recommended that before changing a system to one of the Mobilith SHC Series, it should be thoroughly cleaned out to achieve the maximum performance benefits. While the Mobilith SHC Series greases share many performance benefits, their applications are best described in terms of each product grade:

Mobilith SHC 007 is an NLGI 00 Grade / ISO VG 460 grease with a synthetic base fluid; it has a recommended operating temperature range of -50° C to 150 ° C with appropriate relubrication intervals. Its primary uses are in grease filled industrial gear cases subject to high temperatures, where conventional semi fluid greases will not provide acceptable lubricant life and in non-driven heavy-duty truck trailer wheel hubs.

*Low temperature claims based on ASTM D 1478 results vs. maximum limits of 10,000 / 1000 gcm @ startup and 1 hour respectively.

Mobilux EP 023 products are a high performance family of five general-purpose industrial greases and two special-duty semi-fluid greases. These lithium hydroxystearate greases are formulated to provide extra protection against wear, rusting and water washout. They are available in NLGI grades ranging in 00 , with base oil viscosities ISO VG 150, 320 and 460.

Mobilux EP 023 greases are recommended for most types of industrial applications including heavy-duty applications where high unit pressures or shock loads are present. These greases provide excellent protection against rust and corrosion and resist water wash-out which makes them particularly suitable for equipment where moist or wet conditions are common. The recommended operating temperature range is from -20°C to 130°C but they may be used at higher temperatures if the lubrication frequency is increased accordingly.

Mobilux EP 023 are particularly suitable for the lubrication of enclosed gears and bearings in poorly sealed gear cases they can also be used in many other industrial applications where conventional gear oils cannot be retained in gear cases, chain cases, etc. because of leakage due to worn or missing seals. The recommended operating temperature range is -15° to 120°C for Mobilux EP 023.
Features and Benefits:
Mobilux EP greases have a long history of proven performance and have demonstrated superior performance versus competitive products in the areas of corrosion protection, low temperature pumpability and high temperature service life. A Timken OK load of 40 lb illustrates their load carrying and extreme pressure capability.
  • Reduced wear under heavy or shock loading and vibration for good equipment reliability and availability
  • Protection against rust and corrosion and resistance to water washout for equipment protection and good lubrication even in presence of water
  • Extended bearing life potential in wet environments for reduced bearing costs and unanticipated downtime
  • Effective leakage control (Mobilux EP 023)
Applications:
Mobilux EP 023 is particularly suitable for the lubrication of enclosed gears and bearings in poorly sealed gear cases on most underground mining machinery with the exception of electric motor gearings. Mobilux EP 023 can also be used in many other industrial applications where conventional gear oils cannot be retained in equipment such as gear cases, chain cases, because of leakage due to worn or missing seals.
